The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ (2025) (or the IUCN Red List) is the world’s most comprehensive information source on the global conservation status of plant, animal, and fungi species. It is based on an objective system for assessing the risk of extinction of a species should no conservation action be taken.

The UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development was born out of the recognition that much more needs to be done to reverse the cycle of decline in ocean health and create improved conditions for the sustainable development of the ocean, seas, and coasts.
